Entebbe is an extremely pleasant town with an international airport and a ferry to Ssese Islands
Entebbe is not only Uganda’s international airport, it is an extremely pleasant town—green, relaxed and on the shores of Lake Victoria. It is a wonderful alternative to the hustle and bustle of the capital city of Kampala lying 37 kilometres (22 miles) away.
Entebbe has a decent number of restaurants, banks, foreign exchange bureaus, supermarkets—you name it. Its number one attraction is Entebbe Botanical Gardens, dating from 1902, followed by Uganda Wildlife Education Centre with a good selection of animals. A visit to the botanical gardens is included in Skyway Expeditions’ 1-day tour of Entebbe & Kampala.
Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary can be visited as a day trip, while the schedule of the ferry to Ssese Islands calls for a minimum of two nights.
